Ruins of Quilmes: a little Machu Pichu?

Leaving Tafí, you must travel 82 kilometers to reach the Ruins of Quilmes, the main archaeological center of northern Argentina. In this place lived until the seventeenth century an indigenous population with a high level of political, social and economic organization and advanced knowledge in architecture.

The huge mountain that seems to be taken from a story is a stone fortress; the corrals and cactus served for the habitual development of these communities that raised animals and planted quinoa, corn and other plantations that were used to feed their people. Continue reading
